Anxiety and Stress
Devon’s anxiety and stress management group will focus on relaxation techniques, positive self-talk, mindfulness skills and other coping mechanisms for dealing with overwhelming anxiety and stress. Stress can take a large toll on your physical and mental health. Forms of relaxation that will be addressed and taught in this group may reduce health concerns, restore energy, and encourage a positive sense of self. Relaxation techniques are a safe and healthy way to release pent up anxiety and stress. Using your internal dialogue in a positive way can be encouraging. Positive thinking and optimism are effective anxiety and stress management tools, which is why this group will aid in enhancing your positive-self talk which, in turn, can enhance your performance and well-being. Being mindful is another successful strategy for stress and anxiety reduction, therefore, skills and techniques on how to be mindful will be a focal point for this group. This group will follow a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) format which will manifest in goal-oriented therapy which will look at ways of acting, feeling and thinking to better address anxiety and stress management.
Devon is holding a twelve-week anxiety and stress management group this upcoming September (2019) meeting weekly. The group will be comprised of six-eight patients divided by age range.
